InteraWorks CEO Laurie Oswald Receives ATHENA Award Nomination

Denver, CO

We are excited to announce that InteraWorks CEO Laurie Oswald has been nominated for the prestigious 2022 ATHENA Award in Nashville, Tennessee. Now in its 32nd year, the annual award celebrates women who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their profession, contribute to their community, and unselfish assistance to women and women’s issues.

“I am incredibly honored to be nominated alongside so many amazing women, all of whom are changing the landscape for professional women at all levels,” said Oswald, a first-time nominee. “I look around me and am both humbled and inspired by the other nominees. The impact we’ve made individually and collectively continues to create more support, resources, and opportunities for women to rise and lead. It makes me hopeful and excited about the future.”

Previous ATHENA Award winners include Middle Tennessee luminaries Mendy Mazzo, corporate senior vice president of national business development at Skanska USA, Kee Bryant-McCormick, an attorney with Bone McAllester Norton, PLLC, Katherine Brown, Director of Communications for the Tennessee Community Engaged Alliance Against COVID-19 (TNCEAL), Nancy Corley, attorney with Corley Henard Lyle Langford PLC, Linda Peek Schacht, founding director of Lipscomb University’s Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership, and DarKenya W. Waller, JD, MBA, Executive Director at Legal Aid Society of Middle TN and the Cumberlands.

Named for the mythological Greek goddess of the same name. Athena represents attributes including wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, strategic warfare, strength, strategy, and skill. Her spirit lives on in women who use their vision and persistence daily to excel, while reaching out to open doors and blaze new trails for others to follow.

Each year, during Women’s History Month in March, Nashville joins more than 500 communities throughout the United States, Canada, China, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Bermuda, Greece, India, and the United Kingdom in honoring exceptional women leaders who inspire others to achieve excellence in their own professional and personal lives.

Under the auspices of Cable, Tennessee’s premier leadership organization for women’s professional advancement, this year’s ATHENA Award ceremony will be held March 31st in Nashville. In addition, the ceremony includes the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award and Scholarship. The scholarship was created in 2011 to highlight emerging women leaders between the ages of 25-40 who demonstrate excellence in their profession and improve the quality of life for others in the community while serving as role models for other young women both personally and professionally.

The 32nd Annual Nashville ATHENA Award and Scholarship Program will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

InteraWorks Transforms Conflict Resolution into Solutions@Work

Denver, CO

The new Solutions@Work program from InteraWorks provides the next step in the evolution of conflict resolution. Part of InteraWorks’ Essentials suite of programs, Solutions@Work keeps its focus on the many variables that come into play for teams, including levels of diversity in background, experiences, points of view, approaches to communication, and overall communications skills. The result is a strong effective path to reframing conflict and keeping team members (and their projects) moving forward in alignment.

With the current crisis in the field of conflict resolution demanding new approaches that are sustainable and pragmatic, Solutions@Work moves beyond arbitration and mediation, avoiding the lingering hostilities and resentments that can continue to cause problems for the teams and their ability to create the results they want.

“This program has an amazing engagement factor that starts right out of the gate with participants quickly jumping in to actively participate, share, and converse in ways I have never before experienced in a conflict resolution scenario,” said Cathey Stamps, Marketing and Partner Lead at InteraWorks. “Combining mindset and behaviors, as we do throughout our portfolio, Solutions@Work helps create a powerful shift away from triggers, habits, and emotions to a new way of looking at things together. It removes the negative charge of personal agendas and fears around scarcity to help people step back and see with new eyes.”

Initial pilots have received top-tier reviews and the program is now being rolled out to businesses and organizations globally.

Denver, CO

InteraWorks has launched its new EDGE for Teams, a new program specifically designed to move into the future of work with a strong combination of mindset, strategy, and the tools provided in the Microsoft Teams platform. InteraWorks’ Anne McGhee-Stinson Article Featured in Police Chief Magazine

Denver, CO

Collaborating to bring their unique views and expertise to the current challenges of police training in an rapidly changing world, siblings Anne McGhee-Stinson of InteraWorks and Lt. Sam McGhee of the Aurora Police Department, Colorado, have co-authored the feature article in the May issue of Police Chief Magazine.

Entitled Employing Neuroscience to Strengthen Public Safety Effectiveness, the article focuses on the unprecedented transformation being experienced by law enforcement in an increasingly complex world and the new demands on preparedness training and support needed to meet the challenges.

The role of neuroscience and resiliency training is more critical than ever in creating and maintaining a balanced, healthier, and more effective police force. Traditional law enforcement training is steeped in habitual practice and behaviors. While beneficial for many situations, it may inhibit an officer’s ability to respond effectively to morphing threats. The authors explore ways that new findings in neuroscience can be implemented in training to improve performance, well-being, and resiliency for police officers, including paths to better adaptation in high stress, split-second decision-making scenarios.

Anne and Sam recently co-presented on this very topic at topic at the Homeland Security Education Summit, discussing the implications and advantages of addressing the way in which law enforcement officers are trained to better equip them with skills that enable them to adapt to mutating threatening environments.

“We must look to the science of our times and equip professionals with the tools they need to cope with the challenges facing our communities, organizations and institutions,” said McGhee-Stinson. “We can do better and we urgently need to wake up to that fact.”
